AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT
This page shows the main parts of the airbag system and if any are faulty the air bag light will show on your cars dasboard.
The picture above and below show the airbag light that (if there is no problem with your airbags), will come on at first but then go out after a few seconds after the ignition is turned on or the car started.
If the light remains on then you have a problem in the airbag system and the airbags will not work if you are involved in an accident.
Remember most airbag problems can be fixed there and then with no extra charges.
The side airbag is becoming more common in cars and most of the time is located in the seat but can be found in the doors behind the trim panel. As well as side airbags cars now have roof airbags above the head for more protection in a side impact.

The clock spring or contact ring as its known is a form of rotating cable to carry the wire from the fixed column below to the moving steering wheel.
Due to the job it performs every time the car is driven it is common for breaking on some cars after 4 to 5 years. Until replaced the airbag light will not go out and the airbags wont work.

In the event of a front end impact the cars crash sensors will detect a sudden loss of speed and trigger a signal to the airbag module which will detonate the front airabg(s) and seat belt pretebntioner(s).
The airbag will inflate faster than we can see but begin to deflate strait away to soften the impact.
